The Concept of Technology and Indonesian Language
  • The concept of Technology
The term technology is from Greek (meaning art, skill, or cunning of hand) is the collection of techniques, skills, methods and process used in the production of goods or service or in the accomplishment of objectives, such as scientific investigation. The word technology has tied up with the word ‘machines.’ Technology has many effects for human live. Technology has touch many aspect of live, such as it helped more advanced economic aspect, culture aspect, social aspect, religion aspect, knowledge development, ect.
The term technology is wide and everyone has their own way of understanding the meaning of technology. People tend to use technology to accomplish various task in daily live. People use it at work, for communications, transportation, education, manufacturing and much more. Technology is also an application of science to solve a problem.
Technology is dynamic, it keeps on improving because even people’s need and demand for technology keep on changing. Technology now day has moved from the industrial age to an information age. The advancement in technology has created a new economic environment which depends on information.
  • The concept of Indonesian Language
Indonesian is a standardized register of “Riau Malay”. It is the member of the Malayo Polinesian branch of Austronesian language family. Originally is spoken in Northeast Sumatra. Bahasa Indonesia is a standardized dialect of Malay which has been used as a lingua franca in the Indonesian archipelago for centuries, and which achieved the status of an official language with the declaration of independence of Indonesia from the Netherlands in 1945. It is practiced by more than 23 million people and is classified as an Austronesian Language.
It is the language that unifies the world’s fourth most populous country, comprised of 18,000 islands and inhabited by 350 ethnic groups speaking 750 native languages and dialects. That’s why Indonesian is the second language for 140 million people. Most Indonesians are bilingual in languages.
Indonesian is the official language of government administration and serves as the medium of instruction at all level of education, governments, politics, business, ect. As the official language, Indonesian is the language used in all formal communication as well as in drafting of legal documents.
