The Importance of Listening: Methods used in listening subject

INTRODUCTION

The role of english as an international language has been unmatched by other foreign languages. English is the international language that taught in every school around the world. The use of english that always increase makes the language more deeply rooted in each society.

There are four aspect of english language, they are listening, speaking, writing, and reading. Every aspect has different difficulty. Basically, all people experience the same thing when they’re learning english, ranging from memorizing vocabulary, understand grammar and language stucture, even though easily achived during training but most quickly forgoten, such as understanding of tensesthat quickly dissapear. The problem actually is not the fault of the learner, but it is an error in method of learning that isn’t interesting, or too stiff. This is where the teacher’s role as educator which should be able to understand the strategies or methods in english learning, especially in listening, which affect with the learning activities and learning outcomes to be achived.

Listening often perceived as a difficult thing in a test of english language. Most students complained of difficult listening test in english exam. The reason that often arises in listening is the pronunciation that less clear. Listening can actually be controlled as long as we want and able to practice. Listening requires routine and diligent habituation. In listening practice, someone should be extra patient. We must listen to the sounds of words that we don’t understand. But this is where the importance of listening. Listening need a repetition. Listening need repeated, so the words, pronunciation, sentences that at the first are not clear, in the end can be understood. Someone must be frequently learns english in order to increase the listening ability.

An easy way to us to improve the listening ability is we must live in an english speaking environment. Diligently listen to the audio of english such as news, songs, or radio broadcasts is enough to help.
